I am deeply honored to be selected for the 2011 Health Care Hero award considering the many outstanding nominated individuals who have contributed so much of their time and talents to our community here in Northwest Ohio.
I feel that I share this recognition with so many others who have helped me in my career and made it possible for me to volunteer on Operation Smile medical missions overseas and here in Toledo.
I am blessed to work with exceptional nurses, medical and office staff that provide compassionate and caring patient care and support our practice.
The presentation at the Toledo Glass Museum was special because I could share it with my wife Lisa, my son Joey, my brother Phil, our close family friends Mary Lou and Tony Falzone, and my Mom Rosie to whom I owe more than I could ever say.
Its hard to believe that one trip to Africa with Operation Smile in 1987 would lead me to more than 35 overseas missions and over 1000 operations on children with facial clefts and other deformities…as a physician and father it has truly been an incredible journey and privilege.
I thank everyone for their kind thoughts and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Frank Barone
