This skin condition is characterized by redness in the nose cheeks and chins, small vessels (telangiectasias) present near the surface of the skin, pustules, irregular texture, compromised skin barrier, and sensitivity to food activity and skin exposure. Causes

Can be inherited as well as result from excessive sun exposure, skin damage and inflammatory conditions such as acne.
Spicy foods, hormonal abnormalities, smoking and some medications can also contribute.
The result is thinning, atrophy, dehydration and sagging of the skin and deeper tissues as well as loss of elasticity which creates permanent wrinkles and fine lines. Dead and damaged skin cells build up on the surface exaggerating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
