eyelid rejuvenation in Toledo
Brighter, Younger Looking Eyes
About this Treatment
Eyelid Rejuvenation
Surgical rejuvenation of the eyelids, or ‘blepharoplasty’, are procedures that address aging changes of the upper, lower, and adjacent areas around the eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures requested in plastic surgery and has an excellent safety record when performed by an appropriately trained and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. If you’re interested in eyelid rejuvenation in Toledo, Ohio our team of experts can help.
What It Is
We may perform surgery on the upper or lower eyelids or both. Sometimes, blepharoplasty is combined with other facial aesthetic procedures such as cheek lifts, facelifts, brow lifts, and skin peels or resurfacing to address general aging concerns more comprehensively.
Eyelid rejuvenation in Toledo, Ohio with Dr. Frank Barone can restore a more youthful appearance and rejuvenate the area surrounding the eyes as well as improve functional problems in some cases where fatigue or upper visual field loss has occurred because of visual obstruction from drooping skin or sagging upper eyelids.

- Improved Vision May improve vision in those patients who have developed drooping of the upper eyelid which can obstruct vision (referred to as ptosis or blepharoptosis) by correcting lid position.
How Eyelid Rejuvenation Works
Step 01.
We will perform a medical history and examination along with a thorough discussion of each patient’s goals and expectations to create a proper treatment plan and discuss costs, and recovery time. In some cases, a pre-operative evaluation from an ophthalmologist or optometrist may be recommended.
Step 02.
Anesthesia may be local injection, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia depending on patient preferences and the extent of the procedure.
Step 03.
After proper anesthesia is obtained, incisions are designed so that they will be concealed within the natural folds of the eyelids. In select cases, we may make a lower eyelid incision inside the actual lid (transconjunctival blepharoplasty) resulting in no visible incisional scar. The surface of the eye and the cornea are always covered and protected during the surgery.
Step 04.
Excess skin and fat or fatty bags may be removed, repositioned, or modified to restore the natural features and contour of a younger eyelid. If a cheek lift is planned, we will perform it simultaneously through the lower eyelid incision.
Step 05.
Incisions are closed, and we apply lubricant along with cold compresses to reduce swelling. If planned, we may also perform a skin peel at the end of the procedure.
Step 06.
After a brief stay in the recovery area, you will be discharged, and your transportation home arranged, along with all your follow-up appointments in the office. Post-operative therapeutic services such as lymphatic massage, LED light therapy, medical makeup, and camouflage will also be scheduled to reduce swelling and improve your recovery time and results.

What Our Patients Are Saying
I had upper and lower eyelid (blepharoplasty) and lower extended MACS facelift and peel by Dr. Barone. I couldn’t be more pleased with my results, and my entire experience with Dr. Barone and his staff. He spends a significant amount of time, explains thoroughly and his staff is amazing. They give me personal attention, promptly return calls if I have a complex question, and they actually answer the phone – no robo answering service. I was worried that I would look “done” or not look like “me” anymore. He is a true artist and I look like a truly younger version of myself, and I look & feel great! I live in South Florida part of the year and have access to some of the best surgeons in the country. After extensive research I chose Dr. Barone, and I’m so glad I did! Someone asked me recently, if I could go back to the beginning, would I do it again? I said there is no doubt – YES! I would highly recommend Dr. Barone to anyone considering cosmetic surgery.
I have trusted Dr Barone and his staff so much that having them perform my eye lid and upper brow surgery was a no-brainer. As soon as you enter their offices, you feel like you are part of their family!
A Professional, attentive, informative, and a comprehensive meeting. I appreciate the amount of time he and his staff spent with me. Thank you.
Caring staff and knowledgeable dr. [Single best thing is…] I looked refreshed
Frequently Asked Questions
An open discussion about concerns and goals, a thorough history and examination, and patient education with an experienced and qualified board-certified plastic surgeon are the most effective ways to determine which eyelid rejuvenation in Toledo is the best option to address your concerns. At EVOLV Plastic Surgery and Medical Aesthetics, we have experience with multiple surgical and non-surgical options so it is critical to find a qualified source you can trust to fairly and thoroughly explore which procedure or combination of procedures would fit your budget, tolerance of downtime and goals.
There are a variety of surgical approaches to address eyelid aging concerns as well as functional issues with the skin and tissue around the eyes. At EVOLV, we believe in personalizing the technique to the individual concerns and anatomy of each patient. Dr. Barone has completed specialized post graduate training in eyelid surgery and prefers to use techniques that preserve and reposition tissue to obtain more natural appearing results without an ‘operated look’.
While there are a few situations where insurance may cover correction of eyelid droop (ptosis) or severe skin excess that is blocking vision, most eyelid surgery is usually self-pay. Insurance coverage for resection of upper eyelid skin excess that is partially obstructing vision is a much less complete procedure than the comprehensive rejuvenative blepharoplasty procedures that we specialize in at EVOLV Plastic Surgery. The cost of eyelid surgery will depend upon the extent, time, and nature of the procedure as well any accompanying surgery or services that are planned. The EVOLV Patient Coordinator will provide each patient with an itemized quote detailing all costs as well as expected recovery time.
Recovery or downtime after blepharoplasty procedures will depend on each patient’s anatomy and aging patterns, eyelid sensitivity, the surgical technique, and the number and extent of accompanying procedures and therefore will vary.
It is helpful to remember that ‘recovery’ is a process and goes thru stages. At EVOLV Plastic Surgery we have found that preparing and restoring optimal skin health with a personalized medical skin care program, as well as extensive patient pre-operative teaching and education, specific supplements for healing, in addition to post-operative lymphatic and sound wave massage, and LED phototherapy can significantly reduce downtime and improve healing. Our professional staff will review expected recovery times with you to assist with your post-procedure planning.
As with all aesthetic surgical procedures, eyelid surgery results and longevity are very much affected by numerous factors. These include patient age and genetics, pre/post-treatment overall health and lifestyle, surgical technique and approach, and most importantly post-operative skin and aesthetic maintenance treatments.
In our experience, deeper tissue repositioning and preservation of natural anatomy in eyelid surgery provide the most natural looking and long-lasting rejuvenation results. A personalized medical skin care program will be recommended after surgery, along with aesthetic maintenance treatments, which can extend youthful results far longer than traditional eyelid operative techniques.
Your Safety Matters.
It is important to remember that the training and experience of your plastic surgeon and staff are the most important criteria for achieving safe and natural results with eyelid rejuvenation.
Patient safety and natural appearance results are the major priority for every procedure at EVOLV Plastic Surgery and Medical Aesthetics.
In addition to plastic surgery residency and achieving board certification, Dr. Barone completed advanced fellowship specialty training and research in cosmetic and aesthetic surgery and medicine. Dr. Barone is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) which admits only board-certified plastic surgeons who have achieved recognition and expertise in aesthetic surgery and medicine.
Dr. Barone has conducted clinical research, published numerous articles, and served as a lecturer and instructor for other plastic surgeons and companies.
All major cosmetic surgical procedures at EVOLV Plastic Surgery are performed only in a fully accredited surgical center with experienced and licensed staff. Candidates considering eyelid rejuvenation at EVOLV are thoroughly evaluated fully informed and prepared for the procedure.
Both pre-and post-operative education and guidance along with specific therapeutic services to reduce swelling and downtime are emphasized to improve safety and outcomes and to reduce potential complications.
