Liposuction for Lower Face & Neck
Liposuction of the lower face and neck in Toledo is a contouring procedure to remove excess fat deposits of the neck and lower face and jawline, resulting in a younger appearing and more attractive profile.

What It Is

We typically perform this minimally invasive procedure on patients under a light general anesthetic through small access incisions hidden behind the ears or in the crease under the chin. When indicated, additional procedures to tighten loose skin may be considered such as Renuvion JPlasma or surgically tightening loose neck muscles (platysmoplasty) to create a higher decline and improve overall liposuction results.

How Liposuction Works
Step 01.
We initially perform a comprehensive and focused history and examination, along with a discussion of each patient’s concerns and goals. Photo documentation and skin analysis are also helpful in developing a treatment plan. We will review all potential surgical as well as non-surgical options that address your concerns. It is important to remember that the most natural appearing and balanced results require a comprehensive and individualized analysis and treatment plan as well as preparation and post-treatment maintenance.
Step 02.
Liposuction and other related rejuvenating treatments of the lower face and neck are typically done under a light general anesthetic or awake intravenous sedation at the Regency Outpatient Surgery Center, a fully accredited and certified facility located on the first floor of our office building.
Step 03.
After discussion and preoperative markings, we administer the anesthetic. A specialized solution, called “tumescent solution,” containing medication to improve comfort, reduce any bleeding and bruising as well as minimize post procedure swelling, and cool the tissues is administered.
Step 04.
The Vaser probe, an ultrasonic device that releases excess fat under the skin as well as tightens loose tissues and preserves nerves and blood vessels (hence the term ’selective liposuction’), is placed via a small incision hidden in the crease behind the ears and under the chin. After releasing the fat with the Vaser, a suction cannula is placed to remove the excess fat from the lower face, jawline and neck, gently. If other procedure on planned such as Renuvion JPlasma (link) tissue tightening, muscle tightening (platysmoplasty), or skin lift (limited incision neck lift), we perform them as planned.
Step 05.
After we complete the procedure, Exparel, an injectable long-acting pain block, is given if planned. A mildly compressive wrap is applied to the neck and jawline, and after a brief visit to the recovery area and final instructions, you can go home.
Step 06.
Your first post procedure visit is typically in 3-4 days. At that time, the wrap will be removed, and you will view your initial results, although swelling and some bruising may be seen. Results will continue to improve for weeks as swelling and tissue contour improve. Post procedure therapeutic services such as lymphatic massage and light therapy will speed recovery and improve results. A personalized maintenance skin care regimen is also essential in achieving your optimal outcome.
