Thigh & Lower Body Lift

Thigh Lift, or Thighplasty involves the shaping and lifting of sagging and excess skin and tissue of upper legs and buttocks.  The thigh lift may involve the outer thighs and hips (lateral thighplasty), the inner thighs (medial thighplasty), or the entire upper leg (circumferential thighplasty).

In addition to removing excess skin and re-suspending the deeper tissues, excess fat may be removed by liposuction techniques in order to provide overall balance and contour to the lower body.

Thighplasty is sometimes combined with additional procedures such as buttock lift or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) in order to provide optimal body contouring and shaping.

Thighplasty and lower body lifting require a general anesthetic at an accredited outpatient surgery center.  Patients return home after surgery, but are limited to bed rest for several days.  Normal activities are resumed on a gradual basis based on your overall recovery and progress as assessed by Dr. Barone and our nursing staff.

  • Who are the most appropriate candidates for thigh lift procedures?

At evolv plastic surgery, a comprehensive examination and discussion of your goals are always done before planning an aesthetic procedure.  Thighplasty or thigh lift surgery may benefit anyone with loose and sagging upper leg tissue, cellulite, buttock laxity and loss of contour of the lower body and trunk.  Shaping and excess fat removal by liposuction is also combined for optimal results.  An individualized plan and reccomendation will be provided to you based on your specific goals and concerns.

  • Where are the surgical scars usually located in thigh lift surgery?

Thighplasty surgery is often combined with abdominal and buttock shaping and the scars typically placed at the lower waistline or “bikini” area.  Lifting of the inner or medial thigh is done through an incision hidden in the upper groin crease and inner buttock fold.  When the procedure is designed properly, scars are usually well-hidden by a swimsuit.

  • How long is the recovery time after thigh lift surgery?

As with all cosmetic procedures, the recovery time with thighplasty will depend on the extent of the surgery as well as individual anatomic features.  In order to minimize swelling bed rest is advised for the first few days after surgery, and the legs are elevated.  A compression garment will be used after surgery.  After the first dressing change, showering is allowed along with limited ambulation and activities.  A gradual return to full activities will take several weeks and will be followed by our nursing staff and Dr. Barone.
