THE PROCEDURE
When Shape Starts to Shift
Breasts change. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, menopause, and aging can all affect their shape, position, and volume over time.
As breast tissue and skin lose support, the breasts may begin to sit lower on the chest, upper breast fullness can decrease, and the nipples and areolas may shift downward. The areolas can also become stretched or enlarged.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, allows Dr. Barone to reshape and reposition the breast tissue, elevate the nipple and areola, and reduce the size of the areola when appropriate to create a more balanced breast contour.
If volume loss is also part of the picture, a breast implant can be added to restore fullness, particularly through the upper breast.
