What is Belotero®?
Belotero® is an injectable dermal filler that temporarily treats moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It uses hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the skin that retains moisture and nutrients, to create volume and fill in wrinkles. This filler feels natural to the touch and maintains normal movement and facial expressions, so patients can experience natural, beautiful results.
If you are healthy and unhappy with the appearance of wrinkles and lines around your mouth, you may be able to benefit from Belotero®. Patients who have realistic expectations of their results are most happy with their treatment, but patients with a history of severe allergies should avoid this injectable. A consultation with Dr. Barone is needed to choose the best treatment option for you.
Preparing for Belotero® Treatment
What to know about Belotero®
Before your Belotero® consultation, you should consider some questions to ask your aesthetician to make sure Belotero® is right for you. You should also consider your aesthetic goals and expected results and be prepared to discuss them so your aesthetician can determine the best treatment plan for you. Some effective questions to ask are:
- What is your experience with performing this procedure?
- Who will perform this procedure and where?
- What can be done if I am dissatisfied with my results?
- Do you have any before and after photos from this procedure you’ve performed previously?
These questions can help you determine the skill level of your aesthetician and if they can help you achieve your results. You should always feel comfortable with your aesthetician, and this gives them the opportunity to address any concerns you have.
This treatment is efficiently administered through an injection— most patients can tolerate the injection well, but a topical numbing cream can be administered to make sure you’re totally comfortable. Depending on how many areas are being treated, the procedure can take as little as 15 minutes, meaning your busy schedule won’t be interrupted.
Following treatment, patients may experience swelling, redness, itching, or areas of hardness. These side effects are usually mild and should resolve within a week. For 24 hours following injections, patients should avoid strenuous activities, alcoholic beverages, and direct exposure to sunlight. Belotero® is long-lasting and effective from 6 to 9+ months and two treatments per year are sufficient for an elegant, natural result.
The cost of Belotero® treatments will depend on how much of the product is required, meaning the number of areas being treated and the extent. When considering the cost, you should always factor the skill of your aesthetician as well as your comfort level. Your best results are the most important part of the procedure, and you should ensure your aesthetician can help you achieve them.
