What It Is

Sylfirm X, developed by BENEV, is a cutting-edge technology that combines microneedling and collagen induction with radiofrequency (RF) energy stimulation. This advanced RF microneedling treatment effectively reduces skin aging, sun damage, wrinkles, laxity, and scars, and improves skin texture in Toledo.

These minimally invasive, research-proven technologies safely deliver bio-stimulatory energy to targeted areas of the skin. When combined with bioactive growth factors and topicals, RF microneedling stimulates the body’s natural wound healing and growth potential, resulting in brighter and more youthful overall skin health.

How It Works

RF Microneedling combines the use of small surgical-grade micro-needles to create controlled microdamage, activating the natural healing process of the skin and stimulating collagen production. Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Genius® and Sylfirm X different than other radio frequency devices?

The state-of-the-art proprietary hand piece, motor, and surgical grade needles are designed for safe and precise needle insertion for an optimal treatment. This allows for a very safe treatment for all skin types that is also very effective.

How long does a treatment take?

With an experienced provider, microneedling in Toledo can take anywhere from 45 minutes up to 2 hours, depending upon the areas being treated.

What are the restrictions after RF Microneedling?

You will be advised to avoid makeup, saunas, and working out for 24 hours. Also, you will need to avoid washing or drying the skin with a towel or washcloth, as they can harbor bacteria.

How many RF treatments are needed?

To get the maximum benefit, three or more Sylfirm X or Genius® treatments are typically recommended. Depending upon the patient’s skin and their cosmetic goals, some patients are happy with 1 to 2 treatments. Patients with acne scarring should consider at least 3 treatments and might be more satisfied with 5 or 6.

Do Sylfirm X or Genius® treatments affect fillers?

If the fillers are injected deeply below the skin, the fillers should not be affected. However, we typically recommend waiting approximately 2-3 weeks after receiving filler before having an RF Microneedling treatment.

How long should I wait between treatments?

RF Microneedling treatments can be done as close as 3 or 4 weeks.

How painful are RF Microneedling treatments?

Most patients state that the microneedling in Toledo is mildly to moderately uncomfortable, but very tolerable. At EVOLV, we have pain management tools such as topical numbing cream, Frozen C Cryotherapy, and Pro Nox nitrous oxide. All patients report no discomfort when the procedure is complete.

Can the Sylfirm X or Genius® be used on other parts of the body besides the face?

We routinely treat the neck and chest in conjunction with the face. We also treat arm laxity, knees, and scars from abdominal surgery. Stretch marks have been treated, but results are variable. We have successfully treated hyperhidrosis with the Infini as well. Bottom line is that when appropriate depths and settings are used, the Sylfirm X and Genius® can be used on all areas of the body.

Is anyone not a candidate?

Very few patients would not be candidates. Patients with pacemakers should not be treated. If there is metal in an area of the face, the skin overlying this area cannot be treated. Patients on blood thinners can be treated but will experience bruising.

Are Sylfirm X and Genius® safe for darker skin patients?

The Genius® is protective of the epidermis because its needles are insulated. Also, the depth can be adjusted so the heat from the RF stays in the dermis, below the most superficial layer. Other devices are either not insulated, or try to push heat through the skin, potentially damaging the pigment cells.

The SylfirmX has non-insulated needles but because of the proprietary and unique ways the energy is dispensed, and because of the pulsed mode option and lower energy needed, it is not only safe for darker skin patients, but can be used to treat and reduce excess pigmentation as well as blood vessels, redness, and rosacea.

How does the Genius® and Sylfirm X compare to lasers for treating acne scars?

The Genius® and Sylfirm X are safer than a laser and require less downtime. With laser treatments, it is also possible to get excess pigment after treatment if the skin is not appropriately prepped.

How long do RF microneedling results last?

Unfortunately, results vary from person to person, so it is impossible to give a definitive answer. The collagen created will last at least 7 years; however, the amount of collagen is variable and depends on the overall skin health, patient’s health, smoking habits, age, tanning, sun exposure, and lifestyle. It is usually recommended to have a “touch up” performed every 12-18 months.
